Can a huge company’s internal magazine be good enough for the firm’s people to take it to their hearts?
ČEZ Group is one of the biggest employers in the Czech Republic. It is also a company that is constantly changing, so there is a lot employees need to find out about. At Boomerang, we were tasked with turning the bloated company monthly into something that people would actually read. Even the most loyal employee would be deterred by a hundred and fifty standard pages of corporate text per month. So we downsized it. We started to bring a new look at goings-on in the firm from the perspective of rank-and-file employees. We cut through the waffle and made it less about managers. We used contemporary language and got rid of ‘corporate speak’. We started to take photos of people actually at work and turned technical topics into clear and comprehensible infographics. The result? 92% of employees are satisfied with their jobs and 93% would recommend working for ČEZ Group to their friends.

“What I appreciate most is that even if we miss a deadline, they still get everything done on time in the end. Another big advantage is that they have a large team, so basically nothing we ask for catches them out.”
